ABOUT ME

I’m Merve Başmısırlı – Artist and Collector

I am an artist working in sculpture, ceramics, and oil painting. My creative process is deeply rooted in craftsmanship, attention to detail, and a sensitivity to material. I enjoy building a quiet dialogue between the past and the present — allowing traces of memory to shape contemporary forms.

I began my art education at Yeditepe University in Istanbul and later earned my Master’s degree at the University of the Arts in London. Since then, I’ve been based in Paris, continuing to create and share my work across borders. My sculptures have been shown in international art fairs such as Carrousel du Louvre, Art Ankara, Art Thessaloniki, and the Varna International Art Fair. Each exhibition has been an opportunity to connect with new audiences and fellow artists from around the world.

Beyond my studio practice, I’m also a passionate collector of antiques and rare objects. This love for collecting nourishes my art — every piece I find holds a story, a feeling, a texture that often becomes the seed of a new work.

I believe in the timeless nature of art and its power to create invisible bridges between cultures. With every sculpture I make, I try to capture that sense of stillness, memory, and transformation that art can so beautifully carry.
